Racing Rusty

Rusty 1

There we were walking around the Velodrome, a former NASCAR track that is now a center piece of Asheville's Carrier Park.

Rusty 2

Just a leisurely, non-competitive walk.

Rusty 3

When suddenly this competitive type came flying by on his bicycle.

Rusty 4

Should we race? Chase after him?

Rusty 5

Of course not, said our King of Cool Walking, Rusty the Rooster.

Rusty 6

We have to out style Speed Racer.

Rusty 7

Cool is as Cool does, so says Rusty.

For style, you have him beat by a country mile! Hey, we have a velodrome in ABQ, too!

We know you could all outpace that biker any day. But it is fun to see Rusty do things HIS way.

We’re with you, Rusty – no need to chase. We know you’re faster than that dude with wheels.

It’s funny, because whenever a jogger or biker passes us in close proximity while walking, Marge will speed up to catch up with them. She doesn’t try to chase them, just sort of quickens her pace as they go by.

Mom says we need a Rusty to keep us cool. Today we got passed by a runner on a hill and we started pulling hard to beat him. I don’t think Mom minded the extra puppy-power getting up the hill though.
