Monday Morning Blues

Sometimes, a really good weekend . . .

. . . can make you feel really exhausted . . .

. . . on a Monday morning.

Qannik’s Sunday Stories

Our weekend weather was spectacular – clear blue skies and highs in the 60′s to low 70′s (18-21C) depending on altitude – perfect hiking weather.  We decided Sunday morning to hike to the top of Mt Pisgah – elevation 5,721 feet (1744 meters).   Once at the peak, we settled on the rocks to enjoy the stunning views.

The morning invited many other hikers, including several families.  One little girl, Caroline, was enamored with Qannik and settled in beside him and stroked his fur.  Qannik loved the attention.  He also loved the pack of peanut butter crackers she was eating.  Unfortunately for him, a hu-dad was paying careful attention and he never succeeded in grand theft cracker.

The best moment with the little girl came near the end of our rest break.  Her dad told Caroline and her brother (whose name we never got) to get ready to go.  The little girl looked up at her dad in shock and asked, “You mean we have to hike back down?”

Walk softly . . . and carry the biggest stick you can find.

Shadow Sunday

Woo - look at our shadows all out for a walk with us (including the hu-dad's silly hat).

Qannik refuses to look at his shadow.

And Kiska let's the hu-dad know that he is slowing down the walk by trying to take pictures, so we had better hike on.

Traffic Report

Some days, the traffic in our commute can be really difficult.

This is quite the traffic jam.

What was your drive time like?

Happy Qannik

Qannik is always smiling - quite the happy dog.

Uh - maybe just a little too happy sometimes. We may need to figure out what he is getting into.

The Wet Look

Yesterday’s pictures showed us hiking in a little rain.  To answer the question asked a few times, no it did not start raining about halfway into our hike.  It was raining when we started.  Shrug.  A little weather does not slow us down.  Well, except for heat.  That we don’t like.

So after our hiking in the rain, we get back to the Jeep.  Oh, did we forget to put the windows in the Jeep?  We never seem to have those windows in.

Kiska smiles - even if she is sporting the wet look.

That wooly coat always looks good after a soaking.

Qannik may not look as happy, but that is mainly because he wanted to keep hiking and not get into the Jeep.
