Walking Wednesday – Red Head Style

Pretend it is Sesame Street. Who doesn't match in this picture?

That would be black and white Tartok on the outside lane with red-heads Ruby, Cheoah and Kodiak.

Rusty says sorry for missing the first picture. He was involved in a very important pee-mail.

Blueberry Check

Let them look at the views, I am investigating the branches.

These blueberries are not quite ripe yet.

Kodiak is right; the blueberries are not quite ready for picking, but they will be soon.  And long time readers know how much the dogs like hiking and picking berries on the way.  The amazing part is that the dogs check the same bushes regardless of how seldom we hike a particular trail and regardless of the season.  They know where the good berry treats are grown.

Breaking the Peace

Kodiak and Cheoah peacefully sitting on a bank watching people below us.

Kodiak - Hey Cheoah, it is a nice quiet day, huh?

Cheoah - I bet we can liven things up.

Wrestle time!

Cheoah has Kodiak's neck, but . . .

But Kodiak returns fire.

The humans, however, call a halt to the wrestling match because leashes can get tangled.  The match would simply resume when we got back home.

Serious – or Not

Kodiak and Cheoah are the most serious of walkers. Heads down. Focused. Steady gaits.

But we would never believe that all red heads can be serious.

Not when there is a Rusty the Rooster around.

We would love to tell you that we pose these pictures, but the reality is that Rusty is just Rusty.

Why be serious when you can be Rusty?

P.S. – Yes, for those serious fur pluckers out there. Rusty is the first to start blowing coat. How many of you tried to pluck the fur off of the side of his coat?

River Walking

Kiska here - Let me tell you about our walk yesterday.

We decided to do a different hike than originally planned since it was a beautiful spring-like day.

We even walked across trippy-trapp bridges.

Our trail took us along the banks of the French Broad River.

We loved watching the water splash by.

Whoa - Kodiak is sure he heard a fish splash.

Hope you enjoyed coming along on our hike. We sure enjoyed it.

Tracking the Wild Beasts

Exactly what sort of wild beasts make these tracks?

Feel free to click on the picture above so you can see a larger version.  We were out walking Sunday morning and ran across some very strange tracks in the snow.  We were trying to figure out exactly what sort of wild beast would make a track that is a mix of paw prints in the snow – that sort of look like Siberian Husky tracks – but also has a large dragging mark.  We were totally confused and started to send the picture to our blog-o-sphere tracking expert, KB, but then had a theory.

Synchronized Snow Sliding.

Since a number of you asked after yesterday’s post, yes, the MacBook keyboard is ok after the “Mac & Cheese” incident (Op Pack – you cracked us up with that one).  Only one of the keys (the control key – how ironic) was broken and we were able to get a replacement at our local Apple store, Charlotte Street Computers.  Repairing the keys themselves is relatively simple as demonstrated in this YouTube video (just in case there is a sudden rash of Cheoah type landings).
