Wooing Wednesday

Watchful and Alert Kiska

Many of the notes and comments we have received over the past couple of weeks have asked how Kiska is fairing without her “Boyfriend” Kodiak to lean on. We just wanted you all to know that she is doing quite well. Interestingly, as you can see in the picture above, she seems to have taken on sentry duty in the Jeep. Kodiak was always our official greeter, the dog most likely to hang out the window and say hello to anyone who came up. Kiska will never be the greeter, but she certainly watches anyone who moves anywhere in sight of the Jeep. So Kiska says thank you everyone for your concern.

Wave’s Revenge

Saturday's storms passed and we were greeted with the rising sun Sunday morning.

So we were off for a little early morning stroll in the surf.

Kiska - It's the ocean. No one will notice a little pee break, will they?

Whoa. That wave was a little higher than expected.

No one is going to say a word about this, will you?

Kiska Smiles

Nothing like a good Jeep ride to create Kiska smiles.

Wind in your hair - Woooo!

Hu-dad said that we should wish his sister a very happy birthday.  So, Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday, Auntie!

Qannik’s Sunday Stories

Our weekend weather was spectacular – clear blue skies and highs in the 60′s to low 70′s (18-21C) depending on altitude – perfect hiking weather.  We decided Sunday morning to hike to the top of Mt Pisgah – elevation 5,721 feet (1744 meters).   Once at the peak, we settled on the rocks to enjoy the stunning views.

The morning invited many other hikers, including several families.  One little girl, Caroline, was enamored with Qannik and settled in beside him and stroked his fur.  Qannik loved the attention.  He also loved the pack of peanut butter crackers she was eating.  Unfortunately for him, a hu-dad was paying careful attention and he never succeeded in grand theft cracker.

The best moment with the little girl came near the end of our rest break.  Her dad told Caroline and her brother (whose name we never got) to get ready to go.  The little girl looked up at her dad in shock and asked, “You mean we have to hike back down?”

Livestock

Rusty is studying this sign carefully.

Cheoah, it says large - not small - look higher.

Kiska says she doesn't know anything about livestock, but those horses and cows look cool.

Holding Paws

Long time readers know that we have often referred to Kodiak and Kiska as the boyfriend / girlfriend because of the way they are always cuddling.  Just want you to know that it still happens – even in just a ride in the Jeep.

Aren't they sweet?

Shadow Sunday

Woo - look at our shadows all out for a walk with us (including the hu-dad's silly hat).

Qannik refuses to look at his shadow.

And Kiska let's the hu-dad know that he is slowing down the walk by trying to take pictures, so we had better hike on.

Mine!

What is Kiska doing in MY window?

Pardon me, excuse me.

There. MY window.

This is much better.
