We realize that many of you are suffering from too much – or too little – rain and lots of heat, but we were fortunate enough to have one of those perfect weekends up here on the mountain. The valleys were very warm, but we saw high temperatures in the mid-70′s F (23-24 C), mostly sunny skies, and the first rain free days in weeks at the house. That meant we were outside all weekend long and The Herd got to do lots of walking and playing. The end result?
P.S. – Next Saturday is when there is lots of excitement – the Seventh Annual Downtown (Waynesville, NC) Dog Walk for Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation. Lots of fun, lots of dogs, lots of contests, and a little fundraising for one of our favorite charities. If you are anywhere near us, please come on up and enjoy some cooler air and a terrific time this coming Saturday (August 4). We will be there with bells on (really – bear bells – you can hear us before you see us) and would love to meet you.
This post is just for our friends Zim and Dave at The Army of Four.

Yes, the Army of Four’s buddy “Adrill” is coming along for a walk with us. Just further proof that we are a working breed.

When our county seat, Waynesville, has a festival, they have an ordinance that prohibits animals. So we just hung out at home while the humans went to the festival.

This year’s festival includes performers from New Zealand, Belgium, France, Indonesia, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Serbia and Hawaii – so colorful outfits on our streets are common.
If you want to learn more about this 28 year old festival, please click here. The festival continues through next weekend, so there is plenty of time to catch some amazing performances.
Oh, by the way, the hu-dad says he wouldn’t take us in the middle of a crowded festival even if we were allowed. Something about he could only imagine the number of pockets we would pick.
