This weekend, we had the pleasure of hosting Benoit Denizet-Lewis and Casey. Benoit, a New York Times magazine writer, is writing a book on his travels across America in an RV with his canine pal Casey. You can follow their exploits on their Facebook page, Travels with Casey. Joined by research assistant Sam Reid, they came along on one of our hikes on Sunday to the top of Hemphill Bald, one of our favorite hikes on Cataloochee Ranch. The views from the peak are outstanding and Sunday was one of those beautiful, clear, blue-sky winter days.

Hey, hu-dad, there is a new dog walking with us today.

Casey and Benoit enjoy one of the long range views.

Casey takes advantage of a little downtime while the humans take in the views.

Cheesewhiz approves of Sam's ear scratching techniques.

Casey let's the humans know that they are slow.

Casey shows Benoit how to run down a hill.

Nothing like the end of a long hike.
As we mentioned yesterday, we spent Saturday morning with our neighbor who has four wolves (you can see a previous post about him here). We were introducing a New York Times writer to him (and you can see the writers Facebook page here). We thought you might enjoy a few pictures of our visit.

Hanging out in the compound - a red wolf and a gray wolf pup.

Red wolf loping toward us.

Arctic wolf and gray wolf enjoying the sun.

Did we mention how ferocious they were?

Oh did we fail to mention that?

Hmmmmm - they are almost related to us working breed types, huh?

Hey, hu-dad, the weekend has started. Let's go!
Do we ever have a busy weekend planned. We are entertaining a guest (Travels with Casey), the hu-dad is hanging out with wolves this morning (yeah, yeah, there might be a post in that), and we are hiking to the top of Hemphill Bald – and some other places.
So what are you doing this weekend?

Faster than a speeding fur ball

Even in poses that would make Whitney's Whicked Whednesday post.

Kiska pictures are rare because she is rarely still, even when asking for a belly rub.

So let's try sitting still on the couch.

No, Kiska, waving at the camera is not helpful.

There we go. That is as good as it gets.
P.S. – Don’t worry. That little shaved part on my leg is just because I have shiny clean teeth and fresh breath – Kiska
