6th Annual Sarge’s Annual Downtown Dog Walk

It is that time of year for the annual Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation Annual Downtown Dog Walk – next Saturday, August 6. This is the largest fundraiser of the year for our local all-breed rescue and they are having a dramatic impact on our shelter’s euthanasia rate. If you are in the area, come on out, walk with us, and help a great cause. And if you are not in the area, feel free to click on that Sarge’s link, click the donate button, and send a few dollars (in the description, tell them The Herd sent you).

Here is a great video we found on YouTube of last year’s walk. You will see a certain Herd within the first few seconds.

And here was our own collection of pictures from last year (and, yes, we shared this on our Facebook Page yesterday, so sorry for the repeat for our FB Friends).

Hark – Who Goes There?

Hu-dad here.  Sometimes you get the picture that you were meant to get, not the one you wanted.  Such was the case Sunday evening.  We were out far from other people and I was going to take a few pictures of The Herd.  Suddenly, they all focused on something behind me.  Really, really focused.

Is there something behind me?

But no matter how much I looked, I could not figure out what had their attention. But they sure kept staring. Even as I moved around the Jeep so my back was no longer to whatever was out there. The Herd just kept staring.

Even as I moved around the Jeep, they kept focused.

No, I do not know what they saw, smelled, or heard. Turkey? Deer? Bear? Bobcat? I will never know; I only know they were very, very interested.

Nobody Knows . . .

Sing it with me . . . Nobody knows the trouble I've seen.

Ok, maybe the hu-dad knows and that might explain the jail time.

Tartok Tuesday

I might be the quiet one in the Annex, but I deserve my Tuesdays too.

Heat Wave

Whew!

It's too hot to move.

Turkey Invasion

One of the advantages of the hu-dad not mowing our field often - a haven for turkeys.

Here are a couple of more wandering.

If you click on this picture and enlarge it, look carefully in the grass to see all the young turkeys being carefully supervised by the adults.

And in a little clearing, you can see one of the youngsters more clearly.

Nothing like a few lessons from a wise adult.
