Walking the Closed Blue Ridge Parkway

Our part of the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed every winter because of the snow that accumulates on the higher elevation roads, but we love the quiet walking times.

Kiska - You two know that the rangers are going to open this road any day now.

Better move into road block formation.

Spring looks like it is rushing headlong into your neck of the woods. Soon there will be birdies nesting and fresh buds and blooming flowers…and LOTS of GREAT earth smells! Enjoy the new season.

Thanks for the Iditarod information! I knew the Herd could help us out. Such a grueling race, just participating is something to be proud of!

I have a feeling that tactic is something The Herd employs a lot, and not always on the road!

    Hi Y’all,

Talked to some family who stay in the mountains all winter. They said it was snowing in our neck of the mountains on Tuesday.

The Humans are thinkin’ about going back the end of this month. They want to get some stuff out of the root cellar. Hope they pick a time when it’s not snowin’!

I’ve blown a lot of my coat…I could freeze!

    Y’all come back now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

    P.S. Happy St Patrick’s Day!

We walk in the road a lot too, something about not letting us soil the lawns, but we don’t have any parkways that we can stroll down. Bet you all cause quite the traffic jam with all the sightseers.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you!!!

Too funny! You block that road, Sibes! I bet that it’s a disappointment when you no longer have it to yourselves. I feel that way about some 4wd roads that are closed to motorized traffic until Memorial Day. I love them in the winter!

Thanks for the link to Sarge’s contest. My only hesitation is that I’m not local to your area – and it seems like a local organization with a community base. But, a $10 entry fee would certainly help them regardless of where I live. Anyway, I’m thinking about it… Thanks for your compliment.
