Shocked!

Woo - Is the weekend really over?

*****     *****     *****     *****     *****

Have to love mountain weather.  We had snow storm after snow storm throughout January, but then February has been fairly light – a few days of nothing followed by 3-4 inches of snow and then more nothing.  That may sound terrific to a lot of you still digging out from the recent storms (that missed us).  Here is the problem.  We are under our first Fire Weather Watch of the year.  Strong winds, low humidity, and a relative lack of snow for this month have combined to create a dangerous situation.  No precipitation in sight until the end of the week, so we will just have to hope and hold on.

A very Happy Valentines Day to all of our readers!

    That is shocking.

Amazingly, we actually had a small wildfire in our area in January. We live on the north-facing side of a canyon which holds snow. On the other side of the canyon, just a couple of miles away, we can see brown grass when we are wading through snow. The Forest Circus (my fave nickname for them) decided to do a controlled burn over there in the dry grass on a windy day. You guessed it – it got out of control. Crazy. I hope nothing like that happens near you.

I personally am ready to fire weather.com and get somebody new to manage the weather.

They have really screwed up this year.

Weekend? I remember hearing something about those a few years ago…

A fire watch, this time of year, cannot bode well for the rest of the year! We’ll be hoping you see some more precipitation!

Happy Valentines, Friends! We have all paws and fingers crossed for some wet and/or snowy weather for you — fire watches are not good. We get wildfires where we live too, when it is windy and dry.

People unfamiliar always wonder how places with so much snow can be under fire danger after the melt; we experience that here. Sending White Dog hopes for gentle nurturing Spring rains.

Happy Valentine’s Day! May your hearts be filled with love and joy!
