Kodiak finds a discard near our ski slope neighbors.

Young Cheesewhiz, ever the teenager, wants to sample.

For some odd reason, the hu-dad says we can't have it.

Come on, Redheads, let's keep walking.

Sorry, Rusty, no looking back.

Our tree is really starting to leaf out.

And you can see how the snow is disappearing from Cataloochee Ski (despite our little snow fall we reported on Facebook earlier this week)

Down by the ski lodge, the retreat of our snowy friend is so evident.

But we love the mix of snow and spring!

Fans of The Thundering Herd Facebook Page (really, click that link and then click the “Like” button and you, too, can get breaking Herd News) already know that the humans abused the poor Herd Sunday night by stopping for pizza and beer – and leaving The Herd in the Jeep to amuse themselves.  To add insult to injury, the hu-dad sipped beer, ate pizza, and actually took pictures of The Herd from the restaurant.

Rusty tries his best pitiful stare - but was looking at another table in the window. Those people did not feed The Herd pizza bones either.

A lady strolled past walking her very small dog. Rusty and Natasha were most amused.

They did not stop to say hello, so everypup just watches them down the sidewalk (see Qannik in the back?).

Rusty selects another pizza eating victim to work his pathetic face on.

Tartok here. I know, it is Tuesday and you expected to see Ruby here.

Instead I thought I would demonstrate how we Siberian Huskies are a Working Breed.

The amount of effort required is absolutely staggering.

Don't be jealous. Not every pup can work as hard as me.

The human says I need to tell you that there is no trick photography. No computer generated graphics. Each of these is a separate untouched photograph.

Hard to believe, I know, but it is our work ethic.

We love driving through Cataloochee Ranch (our neighbors).

Watching the horses enjoy the spring grass.

Horses as far as you can see.

These two are just beautiful.

Ignoring the stares from us.

And Qannik and Kodiak are certainly staring.

The road from our house to the valley floor is nearly 3 miles long. This sign pretty well sums it up.

Kiska says that on hot, sunny, spring days, you have to find shade wherever you can.

Thanks, Big Brother Kodiak!

Is that clear?

Apparently, this does not really mean our feline friends.  CAT is the abbreviation for Cataloochee Ski and someone just applied their sticker to this sign. If you enlarge the picture, you can see that.

Woo - our "main" road is looking a little different.

Spring maintenance!

Our poor dirt roads really take a beating in the winter, particularly this road which takes all of the traffic to Cataloochee Ski.  We love our neighbors at the ski resort.  They take such great care to remove the snow in the winter so we can get up and down the mountain, but also because they work to restore the road in the spring.  Spring is when maintenance is done on our roads to take out the “washboards” and make them smooth again for the summer.

Thanks neighbor!

Our tree is finally starting to bud out and produce leaves.

But something did not quite look right over at our neighbors - Cataloochee Ski

So we walked over to the ski area to see what was happening.

HORRORS! The snow is melting! We will miss you!
